initiative for children, the Third Arts Olympiad 2005-2008 by ICAF, the International
Child Art Foundation.
The Malaysian chapter of the Third Arts Olympiad 2005-2008 was launched in 2005 by Yellow
House Society of Kuala Lumpur in partnership with SmartKids. The Third Arts Olympiad
has the cooperation of Ministry of Education, National Council of Welfare and Social
Development and Selangor Council of Welfare and Social Development as well as the
support of
The Third Arts Olympiad involves the participation of nearly 3 million children worldwide.
Child representatives from over 100 countries will be selected to represent their countries in
the largest celebration of children in the world, International Child Art Festival 2007 in
The Third Arts Olympiad links art and sport through school art competitions on the theme
“My Favourite Sport”. Students have a choice to make an original painting or digital art or
photography.
The Third Arts Olympiad is more than a global art competition. It incorporates a structured
lesson plan that promotes the values of art and sport and encourages collaboration
between art teachers and athletics instructors to motivate young artists to develop their
physical abilities, and to inspire young athletes to express themselves through art.
Through activities in the Third Arts Olympiad lesson plan, children will get to explore the
purpose and connection of art and sport; build peace through art and sport by discussing the
Olympics ideals; as well as learn to think beyond the stereotype about artists and athletes by
getting to create games using art tools and to create art projects using sporting equipment.
Through the Third Arts Olympiad (Malaysian Chapter), Yellow House Society of Kuala Lumpur
will be selecting 2 child representatives to represent
Festival 2007.

Even children with special needs can take part in the Third Arts Olympiad. Art and sport
transcend barriers and have no boundaries. Likewise, there should not be any boundaries
amongst children of different abilities. It is always Yellow House Society of Kuala Lumpur’s
vision to promote and provide equal opportunities for children with special needs and they will
be included in the Third Arts Olympiad program. We hope exploring the possibilities of playing
sports will allow them to discover abilities that they have not thought or dreamt possible.
